On March 31, 2009, ABC News turned to UL STR's Jerry Kelly for comment on this week's FDA recall of pistachios.   An excerpt from the story on abcnews.com is below:

"...In recent years, food safety concerns have also steered shoppers away from buying tomatoes, salsa and spinach. President Obama has vowed to overhaul the food safety system while in office.”

"The raw material providers need to tighten up their procedures, watch for cross contamination and be vigilant with pest control," said Jerry Kelly, a senior technical consultant with UL STR, a group that does quality assurance work that includes food testing."
