China's Ministry of Health has formally enacted a ban on the use of melamine in dairy products as part of the 66 new rules promulgated on dairy products.

These 66 new rules, which include 15 dairy product standards, two production criteria, and 49 testing methods, are considered more scientific as compared to the old ones and are designed to correct the repetitions and contradictions found in the current regulations. They integrate the 11 previous standards into four new ones and cover all the basic categories of baby food.
