Third-party testing services to help meet CPSIA mandates

The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008 set testing requirements for most domestic and imported consumer and children’s products, and mandated third-party testing and documentation from an accredited laboratory for products designed or primarily used by children aged 12 years or younger. The Act includes restrictions on lead in children’s products; lower limits on lead in paint and surface coatings; and ban on several phthalates; among others.

UL-STR is registered with the CPSC as an accredited laboratory for CPSIA third-party testing, and our state-of-the-art laboratories provide a wide range of customizable quality assurance programs including testing, audits and inspections. Chemical and analytical testing services include cadmium, lead, phthalates, heavy metals, REACH and toxics in packaging to help manufacturers, importers and retailers comply with many of the CPSIA provisions.

UL-STR’s physical and mechanical hazards testing services include small parts, sharp edges and points, and drop impact, torque, tension and compression studies. Our product design evaluations involve product age determination, risk assessments, injury data analysis and human factors training.
