STR Responsible Sourcing has been working with non-profits and NGOs for more than 10 years. In addition to our involvement with various multi-stakeholder initiatives, we frequently assist with research, monitoring, and training. We also share our expertise with large, multi-national, non-profit organizations to establish and verify internal controls over their management systems and operations.

NGO Accountability Assessments – Based on the InterAction PVO Standards or the organization’s own internal standards, STRRS aims to evaluate the extent to which governance, ethical, and financial oversight mechanisms exist and are being applied throughout a humanitarian or development organization. We assess the organization’s processes for entering, working in, and leaving communities, including the extent of community engagement. The assessment also addresses benchmarking of program impacts and effectiveness.

Promoting Labor Standards – STRRS engages governments and associations in the development of country-level or industry-level responsible sourcing programs including training and education, risk assessment, Code of Conduct, monitoring, and remediation.

Labor Law Library – STRRS’s online library tracks labor laws and minimum wages on a national, provincial, and municipal basis for over 140 countries. These laws have been translated into English and organized in a searchable database that includes international standards.

Risk Index – The STRRS Risk Index ranks countries in areas of government, economics, politics and labor culture by synthesizing internationally respected indices with STRRS’s own indices drawn from generic global assessment data. The Risk Index can also form the basis of a custom risk assessment based on locations, products, or types of violations. These tools help identify and prioritize risk to effectively focus resources.

Program Benchmarking –STRRS will benchmark codes of conduct, program management strategies and implementation protocols to help you evaluate the effectiveness of your program in comparison with sector or industry initiatives and best practices from private sector programs.

Public-Private Partnership building – Partner with STRRS on international bilateral or multilateral labor standards projects or use our stakeholder engagement services to identify potential private sector partners for advancing workers’ rights.

Training – Any of our CSR and responsible-sourcing related training programs, including our Social Auditor Training Program, are relevant for NGOs, labor inspectors, and other parties involved in social monitoring.
